5. Giant Crab Goes To Aquarium Instead Of Your Dinner Table

Claude, the 15-pound Tasmanian giant crab, was caught by an Australian fisherman who decided to sell the colossal crustacean to a British aquarium instead of a fine seafood restaurant.

Claude, who would’ve made 160 crab cakes, took a 29-hour plane ride to reach his new home at the SeaLife center in Dorset, England. After arriving, the crab was given two weeks to get comfortable before being displayed to the public. Since the crustacean is still a juvenile, he is expected to double his weight, even though he’s already 100 times bigger than a normal U.K. shore crab.

Leon Timms saw a bird fall to the ground outside his living room window, so he rushed outside and brought the bird inside to try and revive it.

Revive it? Yes, you heard right!

He pulled out his iPhone and played the sound of a chaffinch using the bird sounds app. “It definitely responded to the sound of another chaffinch – my wife was impressed that I had had the idea of using my mobile.”
