Everyone's favorite canine dog journalist: Monkey Parker

I love a good story.  Don’t you?  Honestly, it’s one of the main reasons why I got into the business of journalism.  (Besides getting great doggie treats for lookin’ good on camera.)

As a reporter myself, I can only imagine how proud one must be to be recognized for their hard work with a nomination from such a reputable organization like the The Humane Society of the United States.  Just yesterday, the non-profit announced their list of nominations for the Genesis Awards.  They recognized mainstream news media, film, and music outlets that bring a public awareness to animal issues. Here’s the official list:

From the list, some of my favorites are:

  • FEATURE FILM: RIO Twentieth Century Fox/Blue Sky Studios
(Great story about belonging)
  • FEATURE DOCUMENTARY:
BORN TO BE WILD 3D Warner Bros. Pictures, IMAX (I laughed and cried watching this one.)
  • LOCAL NEWS FEATURE:

KTLA NEWS AT 10 (Los Angeles) (This is my MOM. She’s nominated for three stories including Alleged Elephant Abuse, Horse Rescue, and Beagle Testing!  Go MOM!)

The winners will be announced at a star-studded gala ceremony on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton, Los Angeles, California.  Then you will be able to catch the show in the spring of 2012 on Animal Planet.

All the nominees inspire me to do better work and to bring to light the good deeds that many of my furry friends do every single day.  Let’s just hope that next year the Genesis Awards has a category for BEST DOG JOURNALIST.  Now THAT would be awesome!
